Guns Rights and Ownership

I come from a family that takes pride in responsible gun ownership and in our constitutional right, as Americans, to possess guns free from undue interference by the federal government. While I am troubled by the level of gun-related crime in our society, I do not believe that banning guns is a reasonable or practical solution to the problem.

At the same time, I also believe that the federal government should play a role in setting standards for the sale and trading of firearms. We need to use all of the resources at our disposal to keep guns from getting into the hands of criminals or other persons mentally unsuited to gun ownership, and we need to make sure that our current gun laws are properly enforced.
